Students will utilize various research-based adaptive software programs for content such as Khan Academy, IXL, Lexia Learning, Zern, Edgenuity, Rosetta Stone, and others as appropriate.
These thoughtfully designed resources promote mastery and rapid progress, enabling students to understand content many times faster than their peers in a traditional school environment. Intelligent data provides each student with personalized learning activities on their level. Additionally, our learning coaches frequently review live reports and offer consistent support, motivation, and care throughout the entire process. If a student needs additional content support, tutors are on call and available to help.
Project-based learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. PBL engages students in deep and long-lasting experiences that inspire a love of learning and a personal connection to their academic abilities. Our projects may include working on a passion project, starting a business, learning to work as a team, or mastering survival techniques. When students are involved in self-directed learning, the possibilities are limited only by their imagination.
We believe that the Bible is God's active and true Word. Students will read and reflect on scriptures daily, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide and teach them. Discussions will focus on love and understanding without delving into specific doctrines or theologies. Students are encouraged to explore these questions deeper at home.
Socratic discussions are based on the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates and his use of dialogue to help his students think for themselves. The goal is not acquiring knowledge via the expert; the aim is student understanding via active thinking out loud and probing of ideas by all students.
The ultimate goal of using the Socratic method is to foster critical thinking by examining one’s inaccurate or incomplete beliefs, and the biases, blind spots, and assumptions that lead to them. Ideally, a student will emerge from a Socratic seminar with greater clarity and depth of their own understanding. Empathy is another benefit. Students show respect for one another by listening actively, acknowledging one another’s input, and sharing diverse perspectives.
