Hi and welcome to BOLD School!
I am thrilled to share the vision of our “unschool” with you and your student. Think of it as homeschool on steroids—a place where students can be themselves, feel safe, learn exponentially more, and truly thrive!
As a longtime public and charter school educator and administrator, I witnessed firsthand how the traditional school system stifles creativity, critical thinking, and individuality. Students sit in rows, memorizing facts, chasing grades, and following rigid schedules—but at what cost? They lose curiosity. They stop questioning. They forget that learning is supposed to be an adventure.
For my own children—one gifted and one who struggled with learning disabilities—I wanted something different. A place where learning isn’t about filling in blanks but about exploring, problem-solving, and making real-world connections. A place where students aren’t confined by outdated models but empowered to discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and develop the confidence to lead.
That vision led me to create BOLD School, where education is no longer about fitting into a system but about becoming who God created us to be. We learn by doing—solving real problems, engaging in deep discussions, designing solutions, and taking ownership of learning. More than that, we challenge students to see the world through a Kingdom lens, to recognize needs beyond their own, and to develop the empathy, faith, and leadership skills needed to make a lasting impact.
Education should ignite creativity, encourage bold ideas, and equip students to step confidently into their future—not just as learners, but as innovators, servant leaders, and changemakers for God’s Kingdom.
I’m so excited you’ve chosen to join me on this journey!

Apologies for the raw and antiquated quality of this video, but it offers a glimpse into the early days of BOLD School. Recorded in 2020, this slideshow captures the vision and heart behind how the school idea was born and the journey that led to its creation.
